Due to recent statutory and rule changes, effective for all fiscal years ending November 30, 2011 or later, the State of Ohio has mandated electronic filing of the Not-for-Profit charitable registration forms. The State of Ohio has published a document containing all of the information and steps needed to register online. Please review this document at www.OhioAttorneyGeneral.gov/CharitableRegistration and on the right side of the screen, under “Related” click on “Online Charitable Registration System User Guide”. The forms that need to be completed for the online registration can be found at www.OhioAttorneyGeneral.gov/CharitableRegistration.
It is important to remember that the filings are due the 15th day of the fifth month after the year end. If your year end is December 31, your filing will be due on May 15th; if your year end is June 30th the filing is due on November 15th. The State of Ohio does not specifically issue extensions for these filing deadlines; however the State of Ohio does follow the IRS guidelines for extensions. If an extension to file the Organizations’ federal tax return has been granted, this will be accepted as an extension for the State of Ohio as well.
If you have any questions regarding the online filing process, please do not hesitate to contact our office. We look forward to working with you!
